| High
Schools Program Overview
Each of the four high schools and continuation high schools has Workability
I staff assigned to work with the students and teachers at that high
school. The staff person assigned also represents career resources associated
with a variety of other programs such as the Workforce Investment Act
(WIA) and Sutter County Employment Services (TANF). The Workability I
staff person assigned to the high school is available to coordinate services, and consult with teachers and students.
Although it is not practical for Workability I staff person to attend
all IEP meetings, they are certainly available when the situation requires
specific information that only they would be able to provide.
The Workability I program supports students with Individualized Education Plans
referred by a Special Education Teacher/School Staff in a wide variety of vocational
experiences, identified in their Individualized Transition Plan/Individualized
Education Plan (IEP/ITP). Workability may assist with pre-employment training,
work experience placement and follow-up for high school students in special
education that are making the transition from school to work, independent living,
and post secondary education or training .

| Work
Experience
Work Experience is designed to provide qualified students direct
experience on a real job and provide opportunities leading to self
sufficiency and marketable job skills.
Work Experience opportunities are available throughout the school year. Participation
in the work experience program is based on several factors that may include:
referrals from school personnel, the student's work readiness, grades and age.
Work experience may not be appropriate for everyone. Work experience is designed
to compliment the student's transition plan, academic goals, and future career
goals.
