Frequently asked questions for WIA Youth Services

What is WIA?
WIA stands for Workforce Investment Act. WIA is a federally funded program that assists individuals that are eligible to receive job search assistance, on-the-job-training, work experience, training, comprehensive assessments, career exploration, and development of individual employment plans, job retention skills, supportive services, and follow-up services

Is everybody eligible for WIA?
Everyone is eligible for services, but not necessarily for enrollment in the WIA program.

What is the Workability I program?

Workability I is a state funded program that assists individuals who have an active Individual Education Plan (IEP). It provides pre-employment skills, career awareness, work experience, transition services, and follow-up services.  

Is everyone eligible for the Workability I program?
Only individuals who have an active Individual Education Plan (IEP) are eligible for the Workability program.

If I am not eligible for enrollment, what kind of help can I still get from Sutter County One-Stop?
Services available to you include: Access to computers and the internet, assistance with registering onto Cal JOBS, information on current job leads, and the opportunity to sign up for resume workshops & other workshops.

Can Sutter County One-Stop get me a job?

We are not an employment agency. Whether or not you find a job depends on you and your participation in your job search efforts that will lead you to employment. We offer tools that can assist you with information and/or training that are intended for each participant to obtain employment.

How much does it cost?
There is no cost to you. All we ask from you is a positive attitude and motivation.
