 “Hello my name is Lidia. I have one year living in Robbins. I began studying English when I came to Robbins. The name of my teacher is Becky, studying English is hard. The reason it’s hard is because I have four daughters, the little baby is two years old, but I want to learn English.
One time my teacher asked me, “Lidia do you dream in English?” I told her, “never teacher.” I forgot because one night I was speaking with other people, I don’t know what I was speaking in English, but I remember speaking in English. The other day I dreamed again that I was talking to my Aunt Ramona in English. Well, I think I am learning something thanks to my teacher and my friend Adriana that helps me a lot.”

Congratulations to Renee Thomas! Sutter County One Stop Adult Education has another success story. Renee, an Adult Education student has earned her GED. She started by taking a practice test to find out what subjects she needed to study. Renee studied and with determination passed the GED in March. Renee showed that with determination you can reach your educational goals.

Lidia Mireles joined our class when her family moved to Robbins one year ago with a serious desire to learn English. She is an extremely busy young woman, with three daughters attending Robbins School and two-year-old Jasmine keeping who keeps her Momma hopping.
Lidia not only attends class regularly, intently studying the lessons, she works at home with English language CDs, practices with her classmates and friends, and helps her daughters with their homework, all of which contribute to her rapidly improving proficiency.
It is delightful to watch her effectively apply the skills she’s learned, and a joy to see her successfully communicate her ideas.

Abdul Sholiay is dedicated to improving himself. He has attended One Stop for close to two years and has almost completed his High School Diploma. In his efforts to increase his education and skills, Abdul has also taken classes at Yuba College, recently completing Corrections. He hopes to take the Police Academy in the future. Abdul works hard and I know he will be successful in his endeavors. |

Manoj Kumar has been here for about two years in our beginner ESL class. He's had to leave when work becomes available during the school year. He is my number one helper of all my three classes. He's always pushing in chairs and picking up books that others forget about. At times has come to school from working all night with no sleep. That is true dedication!
Manoj has grown tremendously with his knowledge of English and he has become quite a feisty entertainer to all the other students with his clever tidbits during class time. He's not afraid of hard work, so I see good things for him in the years to come.
