Big ROP Office Changes!
The ROP Business Department has made changes to meet the needs of our students! We are now offering short term classes, lasting eight weeks. Our first class began two weeks ago and the students are enjoying learning Microsoft Word. In March, we will be introducing Microsoft Excel as the short term class. However, we are still offering classes for the student that wants open entry classes to work at their own pace in their chosen subject.
We had a group of students that have already received college credits this school year!! Our articulated classes help with costs and time.
We remain dedicated to provide the best training you can get to enable you to obtain a job. Please call (530) 822-5120 for more information.

What Are Your Transferable Skills
During our lifetime we acquire many skills and abilities. These can come from our employment, education, volunteer experiences, sports participation, parenting and numerous other avenues. Many of our life experiences can contribute to our repertoire of skills and abilities that can be applied to a new position, or career. Some of these skills can be referred to as “Soft “skills (non Technical). These could include, but are not limited to, inter-personal skills, time management/organizational skills, leadership skills, etc. “Hard” skills are the more technical skills that can be transferred, such as math skills, mechanical skills, graphic design skills, etc.
Transferable Skills become extremely important when embarking on a new career path, not merely seeking a new position in the same field where one performs the same duties as before. One key to securing that coveted interview is a resume which showcases one’s Transferable Skills. The job seeker should seriously consider placing these shills in the top one-third of their resume, directly below the contact information and job objective. It is also important to then provide concrete examples of ones specific accomplishments in order substantiate performance. The job seeker should utilize the employer’s job description, with its stated qualifications, in order to relate transferable skills to the position. Many individuals have skills that they don’t realize can transfer to a new career. |
